Voices distributes €180,000 to 21 Organisations

Voices Foundation has distributed €180,000 to 21 different organisations. The funds were raised during last October’s Voices Heart and Soul concerts. This was the 13th Voices concert, which boasted 10 nights of spectacular music covering a repertoire of 22 memorable songs sung by a 200-strong choir and accompanied by 10 musician live band.

3 lead projects were selected to benefit from the funds collected. The first project is “Space for Bruised Souls and Broken Hearts” submitted by Province of the Sisters of Charity of St Jeanne Antide which sets to build short-term accommodation for vulnerable women. The Second Project “Our Voice: Ensuring care and protection through services and advocacy with and for refugees” is one led by the Jesuit Refugee Service Malta Foundation which aims to ensure that vulnerable asylum seekers’ need for protection and assistance are identified and cared for.  The third lead project is “Power the Farm, Power the People” a project submitted by the Permaculture Research Foundation with the objective to incorporate an example of how renewable energy can be integrated into farming systems in order to produce ecologically grown produce.

Other beneficiaries were Paolo Freire Institute, SOS Malta, Fundazzjoni Suriet il-Bniedem, Opening Doors Associations, Kopin, Women’s Rights Foundation, Down Syndrome Association, St. Theresa Home, Autism Centre, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Dr Klown, Bi Dritt, Salesians of Don Bosco, Inspire, Appogg Children’s Fund and Dar Guzeppa Debono Association. The final beneficiaries were chosen after assessment by a separate advisory board was appointed specifically for this purpose.

During the Beneficiaries Night Antonello Gauci, chairman of Voices Foundation explained that Voices is a collaboration of more than 300 volunteers, singers, musicians, committee members and crew working together to put up a wonderful concert. He also acknowledged the stellar work of the organisations benefiting from funds, who work exceptionally hard all through out the year. Since its beginning in 1991, Voices has distributed close to 1.9 million Euro.

Voices Heart and Soul was organised in collaboration with the Vodafone Malta Foundation and is supported by Gold Sponsors, Kinnie, Malta International Airport, Island Caterers, Yellow, Discover Local, as well as by Silver Sponsors, Martini Royale, ICE Malta, Opel by Cars International, Vivendo Group, Brooks Brothers and Vileda.
